Smart home hardware is sold as a fifteen-minute job and almost never is. The doorbell needs a transformer that can carry it, the thermostat needs a common wire the house does not have, and the cameras need to reach a router two floors away. I fit the hardware and then stay until it is genuinely working on your network.

Lighting and fixtures

Light fixture installation, ceiling fan replacement, dimmer switches, LED and showcase lighting, and switch and outlet replacement.

Smart home and security

Camera installation, smart thermostat installation, video doorbells, smart switches and security system setup — including the part everyone else skips, which is getting them onto the Wi-Fi and into the app on your phone before I leave.

Where I stop

Fixture-level and low-voltage work is mine. Panel changes, new circuits and anything that needs a permit belong with a state-licensed electrician, and I will tell you plainly when your job is one of those rather than take it on.

Are you a licensed electrician?

Can you add an outlet behind a wall-mounted TV?

Yes. In-wall power kits for a mounted television are standard on my TV installs and are the correct way to do it, rather than running an extension lead inside the wall, which is not.

Will you set up the app as well as fit the hardware?

Yes. Fitting a smart thermostat or camera and leaving before it is on your Wi-Fi and in your app is only half the job. I do not book the visit as finished until it works from your phone.

Do you install ceiling fans where there is no existing fixture?

Where a suitable rated box and supply already exist, yes. Where a new circuit or a new box is needed, that goes to a licensed electrician.
